Brooksie D. Thompson

About the Author

Brooksie D. Thompson is a poetess, self-help author, humanitarian, and former mental health counselor who is on a lifelong mission to create positive change in people’s lives. Through the infinite power of words, she also strives to help others overcome any roadblocks that stand between them and their happiness. In her own words: “You matter, and you are not alone. There is help.”

Combining her passions for writing and helping others, Brooksie Thompson champions the well-being of those in need through her art. Shedding light on personal trauma, Brooksie hopes to build bridges between those in pain and a healthy, alternative support system made up of words, lines, and stanzas. Having been writing for more than a decade, Brooksie has published, at present, three books of poetry that explore the spectrum of the human experience with a fourth poetry book on the horizon.

From grief and loss to love, hope, and change, the breadth of emotion and scope of understanding that Brooke brings to her craft is a true testament to her passion for writing and her dedication to providing support, hope, and aid.

In addition to her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Business Administration, Brooksie holds certifications in various areas, including Mini-Suicide Prevention Conference, CALM (Counseling on Access to Lethal Means), and C-SSRS (Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale). Furthermore, she received the College Campus Leadership Award and a nomination for the Frist Humanitarian Award. Not content to just write and share, Brooksie is an advocate for mental health and uses her writing as a tool for raising awareness. Her greatest hope is to use her dual careers, writing and mental health care, to reach others in their darkest hour.

When she isn’t writing therapeutic poetry or offering a helping hand to those around her, Brooksie D. Thompson enjoys horseback riding and listening to an eclectic assortment of music. Above all else, she loves spending quality time with her family and friends who are like family.

A native of Texas, Brooksie now hangs her hat in a beautiful small town she calls home Waynesboro, TN.
